Even if the Healing Doesn’t Come #3
One day you wake up and life is floating along just fine. The next day, it seems you are ageing, people have passed, and life has changed, and, in some ways, things will never be the same again. Life is funny that way. Scripture says that life is fleeting. We are but grass, here today, gone tomorrow. Frail and weak, it’s amazing as delicate our systems are that we actually survive and thrive! In our devotional on cancer that Phil and I read together, I ran across this information:
‘The Human Genome Project, completed in 2003, identified the twenty-thousand-plus genes in the human body and sequence the three billion chemical base pairs that comprise our DNA, or hereditary code of life. Dr. Francis Collins, the head of the project explained that the DNA in each human is “3 billion letters long, and written in a strange and cryptographic four-letter code. The code is so complex, Collins says that if one person were to read it out loud at three letters per second it would take thirty-seven years.’
“You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and kit me together in my mother’s womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is so marvelous – how well I know it.” Psalm 139:13-14
Even Though Collins is one of the world's leading scientists, he is also a man of Christian faith who calls our DNA “the language of God”. He wrote, “Science is not threatened by God; it is enhanced. God is most certainly not threatened by science; he made it all possible.”
Wow, so delicate and so durable! What a great God we serve!
Even If the Healing Doesn’t Come #3
Verse 1:
I remember the night, when the storm rolled in,
Your voice like a whisper, through the thick of sin.
I was lost in the shadows, the pain felt so real,
But I held onto the truth, that's how I began to heal,
Chorus:
Even if the healing doesn't come,
I trust you Lord, I won't be undone.
When life falls apart, and dreams are undone,
You are God, you are good, forever faithful one.
Verse 2:
Sitting in silence, on that long hospital stay,
I prayed for a miracle, just a word to say.
But you wrapped your arms ‘round all my fear and doubt,
I learned to lean on you, that's what loves about.
Chorus:
Even if the healing doesn't come,
I trust in you, Lord, I won't be undone.
When life falls apart, and dreams are undone,
You are God, you are good forever faithful one
Bridge:
Your ways are higher, I can't always see,
But you hold the world, and you're holding me.
Through every trial, I will raise my song,
You're still the mighty one, where I belong.
Chorus:
Even if the healing doesn't come,
I trust in you, Lord, I won't be undone.
When life falls apart, and dreams are undone.
You are God, you are good, forever faithful one.
Outro:
So I'll sing your praise, in the dark and light,
You're working for my good, I'll be alright.
Even if the healing, even if it's slow,
I'll rest in who you are, ‘cause I know you'll show.
Even if the healing doesn't come,
You're still my heart, Lord, my everlasting sun.
