Ransom for my Soul

What does it mean to be ransomed by God?

Bought back and rescued by our Heavenly Father from the depths of sin and death.

We were ransomed by His blood that He shed on the cross. 1 Timothy 2:6 states, “Jesus gave Himself as a ransom for all, which is the testimony given at the proper time.” Psalms 49:15 says, “But God will ransom my soul from the power of Sheol, for He will receive me. Selah.” 1Peter 1:18-19 says, “Knowing that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver and gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of the Lamb without blemish or spot.” And lastly in my research, Mark 10:45 states, “For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.”

How precious that God loved us so much and wanted to save us, He sent His son as the perfect ransom payment to buy us back. What an incredible act of love, grace and mercy. What more could we ask or seek to be confirmed that His love is true and unconditional?

This word has had such an impact on my heart that I named one of my horses, Ransom. When people would ask why I named him such a strange name, I had the opportunity to share God’s love and incredible, generous grace with them as I explained.

What does this word mean to you?

Are there words that describe God’s unconditional love to you more than “ransom”? Share with me your favorite word and why.
