My True North
This title for God has been in my heart a long tie. Many years ago, an artist sang a song that has this phrase in it and it has stuck with me. (Christine Wyrtzen)
God is always steady, never moves, and if we set our compass on Him, we will not drift off curse. As a sailor can g off curse just a few degrees, he can end up really off curse the farther he travels, so it is with our walk with God. Are you and I on the course or are we rationalizing it by saying it’s only a little to find out later, now we’re really in trouble and very are from where we intended.
What a treasure we have in Christ, that He is the same yesterday, today and forever. He never changes. There is no shifting of shadow with Him. Ther’s security knowing He remains the same.
Praise God for His immoveable character!
My True North
Verse 1:
When I'm lost at sea,
Gone off course,
Can't seem to find my way.
Nothing on the horizon looks familiar,
I need to find my compass,
Then I see his star.
Chorus:
You are my True north,
My guiding light,
Giving me direction, and my one True Path.
You are the permanent, stable star,
With you, I will not drift.
You are my God, my True North.
Verse 2:
When I try to find my own way,
Independently.
And rely on my own devices,
I got off course,
Only a few degrees,
Which set me back off track,
And far from my true purpose.
Bridge:
Help me keep my eyes on You;
Do not look to the left or the right.
Remain focused, don't get distracted;
Stay the course and persevere.
Verse 3:
Magnetically draw me back to You,
Navigate me through life.
You are my fixed point of reference,
Orient my heart to You.
