When God Doesn’t Fix It

A few years ago I read a book by Laura Story called “When God Doesn’t Fix It”. It’s a powerful book that shares her testimony. Yes, her name should be familiar. She wrote the song, “Blessings”. What do we do, how do we respond when circumstances take a turn, and it feels like God isn’t fixing our situation? At least not fixing them the way we’d like. I’m not far into my journey and we are not sure of the outcome at this point. But my challenge is preparing my heart and soul for good news and bad news. Will I be angry? Will I fall into despair? Or will there be unspeakable joy and celebration?

I’m not sure, but I’m preparing my heart for whatever comes, to give God the glory. He has a plan, and I must trust in Him. Isaiah 41:10 (NLT) says, “Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.”  Isaiah 49:16 (NLT) states, “See, I have written your name on the palms of my hands. Always in my mind, . . .”

Do you feel His love? It’s so tangible and close.

When God Doesn’t Fix It

Verse 1:

Sometimes all we have to hang on to is who you are and your truth,

So even if the circumstance comes in like a flood,

It still doesn't change who you are,

And we trust the truth of who you are.

 Chorus:

So what if our prayers aren't answered,

And the healing is out of reach,

Life feels like it's falling apart,

And dreams are unrealized.

You are still God, You are good,

You are still faithful and perfect.

Even if my circumstances don't change,

Even if my life is still flooded.

Verse 2:

Lord, your ways are higher than our ways,

And your thoughts are higher than our thoughts.

So help me place my faith in who you are,

Even though you reign on high,

And you're still accessible and right beside us in our hearts.

We must learn to rest and who you are.

Bridge:

You are still The Great I Am,

The Holy One, we trust you only,

You're working all things for our good,

we praise your name.

You are good and we honor you,

As The Great I Am,

You are God, and we bless you,

Even if the healing doesn't come,

You are still the Great Physician,

My Great I Am.
