He is my Anchor

“Now that I’ve decide to journal. Here we go!

Support. Not a word I have often connected so much to God.

I guess I’ve more associated it with people. But He is my refuge and strength.

I have cancer and I have good days and bad days.

And even though things are hard, I know I can trust God.

I know it cognitively, but do I really believe it and really trust Him?

I need hope.

No matter the circumstance of how life can be hard, challenging and full of trials, I know I can depend on God. He is my hope.

But am I ready to put into practice what I say I believe? Am I ready to entrust myself to God and His plan.

No matter what or who tries to destroy me from the inside or out, I know that God is my support and my steadfast love.

Micah 7:7 says, “But as for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me.”

From that journal, I edited and made this song:

He Is My Anchor 5/23/25

Verse 1

Sometimes it feels like the ground has given out beneath my feet.

Sometimes it feels like the waves come crashing in, knocking me off my beat.

Sometimes I feel there’s a raging fire, trying to destroy me from the inside out.

But other times there’s a void, and I know it’s not real, without a doubt.

Chorus

He is there, through the storm and through the night,

My steadfast love, my guiding light.

When the darkness tries to swallow me whole,

He is my anchor, He holds my soul.

Verse 2

I remember the day when they said, “You’ve got to fight,”

Sitting in that room, felt like the end was in sight.

But in that moment, I looked up and prayed,

And felt a warmth like a promise, my fears began to fade.

Chorus

He is there, through the storm and through the night,

My steadfast love, my guiding light.

When the darkness tries to swallow me whole,

He is my anchor, He holds my soul.

Bridge

Good days come like sunshine after rain.

Bad days feel like I’m walking through pain.

Every tear I shed, every battle I face,

I know I can trust Him,

I’m wrapped in His grace.

Verse 3

Sometimes I lay awake, the shadows dance near,

But in whispers of hope, I can feel He is here.

Memories of laughter, lessons learned along the way,

God is my strength, come what may.

Chorus

He is there, through the storm and through the night,

My steadfast love, my guiding light.

When the darkness tries to swallow me whole,

He is my anchor, He holds my soul.

Outro

I will rise, I will stand,

With faith as my shield,

In every battle, my heart will not yield.

No matter the trials, no matter the fears,

He is my support, He is always near.

He is there; I know He’s always there.
