Lullaby of Jesus

A lot of my writings are pieces. Segments of Scripture, portions of choruses and hymns of old as well as my thoughts and struggles.

For Lullaby of Jesus, I started with a tune that I tried to hum and record in the living room so as not to wake my husband. But words kept pouring out. Here are some of my notes:

Everlasting Father Advocate

Prince of Peace      Comforter

Mighty God Helper

Counselor and lots of scratches

Healer Guide

“Who comes alongside” great encourager

Deut 31:6; Isaiah 49:16

Out of that flowed:

Verse 1

Lay your head on My shoulder

Let me wipe away your tears

Let me rock you back to sleep

I will take away your fears.

Chorus:

Close your eyes. Rest in Me.

I’m the Great I Am, the Comforter, the Mighty God.

Peace be still. Trust in Me.

I’m the Counselor, the helper, the healer.

Your Abba, Father.

Verse 2

Embrace your everlasting Savior

Let Me push the world aside.

Let Me whisper sweet promises

I will be right by your side.

Chorus

Close your eyes. Rest in Me.

I’m the Great I Am, the Comforter, the Mighty God.

Peace be still. Trust in Me.

I’m the Counselor, the Helper, the Healer.

Your Abba, Father.

Verse 3

Don’t be hurt by their cruelty,

They will never understand.

In My eyes you will see you are precious –

You are the apple of My eye.

Chorus

Close your eyes. Rest in Me.

I’m the Great I Am, the Comforter, the Mighty God.

Peace be still. Trust in Me.

I’m the Counselor, the Helper, the Healer.

Your Abba, Father.

Bridge:

I will never leave you

I will never forsake

I will never abandon you

Do not be afraid –

Do not be dismayed - -

For I have engraved your name in the palm of My hand.
